A family house in a kibbitz

This is a private home located in a kibbutz in northern Israel, overlooking a wild and ever-changing landscape that evolves with the seasons—an element that defined the planning and design concept. The renovation was born out of the residents’ desire—a family of five—to add a second floor to the ground level and to relocate the secure room (Mamad), essentially resulting in a rebuild from scratch.

A central staircase at the entrance connects the two floors. The ground floor houses the public area, which includes an inviting and cohesive living room, a kitchen, and access to a backyard with a jacuzzi facing the view. It also includes a master bedroom and a secure room that also functions as a guest suite. The second floor features three bedrooms and access to a balcony with a scenic view.

The choice of materials was inspired by the surrounding environment—a combination of parquet, natural stone, steel, resin, and wood. Custom carpentry was planned with earthy tones such as terracotta, wood, and stone, complemented by natural, light-toned textures and textiles. The decorative elements were custom-designed, with the highlight being original artworks created by the homeowner herself, which adorn the entire house.
